This is the time of year when people start making all of their goals for the year ahead. The crazy thing is that everyone seems to be so determined to get somewhere, but they forget to take the first important step:
Taking a close look at where you are right now!
For years I couldn't figure out why I never really seemed to be getting anywhere. Then one day it dawned on me...there were plenty of things in my life that I LOVED just the way they are!
So before you start creating all of your dreams about what you want to change, take a close look of what you have right now. Then rate it on a scale of 1-5 with 1 being "intolerable" and 5 being "perfect". This way you will have a clear idea of what your heart truly desires, and will have a much better roadmap for moving forward.
I suggest you take your inventory of the four major life categories:
Once you've completed your inventory, you'll be clear about all the blessings you've already manifested for yourself, AND you'll have clarity about what you truly want to create in the year ahead! Please share any a-ha's you have while doing this exercise in the comments below.

Many people run through their lives like they are constantly putting out fires...running here, there, everywhere, but never seeming to get anywhere! They are in a constant state of reaction to the circumstances of their lives.
Then there are these other magical people who have work that they love, vibrant health, loving relationships, and lives filled with purpose. They are in a constant state of bliss because they know a secret...they are the creators of their own happiness, and they proactively go about creating the circumstances of their lives.
There are four areas that all need our attention and focus if we intend to live a life of balance. They are:
Each is incredibly important, and we must mindfully pay attention to them all, because if we don't an imbalance (like bankruptcy, cancer, divorce, or depression) will bring us to our knees.
Most people pay attention to one or two of the areas, but the others...not so much. So let's say a woman spends all of her time focused on her family (love) and her job (work). Before you know it she's gained 20 pounds and is depressed. Why? Because she hasn't been minding her health and purpose!
Take a little inventory of your own life, and see how balanced your life is or isn't. Leave a comment below about the area(s) you intend to improve on so that you can bring more balance to your life.

I started practicing yoga over 40 years ago. There was a class in the evenings that my mom wanted to take when I was eight years old, but she didn't have a babysitter so she brought me along. The teacher was kind and nurturing. She set out a mat for me "just in case" I got bored with my coloring book and wanted to join in. It looked simple enough from where I was sitting, so I did join in the practice, and my life was forever changed.
Until that time I always felt as if I didn't belong. It was as if I was an alien trapped in this human world in a body that I didn't like, surrounded by all of these emotions coming at me from every direction, and it seemed like I was the only one who could see how none of it seemed to make any sense. I was chubby, introverted (to the point that I am sure I would have fallen somewhere on the autism/asperger's spectrum), and I was insatiably curious. So I got on the mat.
In that first class I remember feeling as if it were the first time in my life that I felt comfortable in my body. It was a practice in exploration and observation. There was no right or wrong, good or bad, nothing to prove. There was only a quest to connect deeply to peace by bringing the body into a complete state of relaxation, the emotions into a state of contentment, and the thoughts to a restful state. And that quest has continued all of my life.
Through my yoga practice I have learned to love and appreciate my body, to honor my need to go within to process my emotions, and to proactively choose which thoughts I will follow. I have found a deep love and appreciation for those with whom I have practiced, and for all my fellow spiritual beings.
I realized through yoga that I do belong, and so do you. I encourage you to find a class. If you feel like you'd like private instruction first to build your knowledge and courage, then find a teacher. But whatever you choose to do, remember that your body, emotions, and thoughts are tools for you to use on your spiritual path of awakening. I encourage you to wake up peacefully and naturally through yoga. And if you already have "alarms" going off in your life...it's not too late to hit the snooze button and make a different choice.

Here is a wonderful tool you can use to see where your priorities are to achieve Holistic Health.
Draw a circle like the one you see pictured (and yes, I know mine looks more like an egg than a circle) with lines as shown. The inner most part of the line = 1, the outer most part of the line = 10.
1. On the top spoke, place a dot on the line to indicate how much of a priority your daily spiritual practice is.
1 = What is a spiritual practice?
10 = My biggest priority.
2. On the next spoke indicate your intuitive awareness.
1 = I don't believe in that mumbo jumbo!
10 = I consider myself very psychically attuned.
3. Next indicate how openly, honestly, and authentically you express your love & knowledge.
1 = I prefer to keep things to myself.
10 = Everyone in my life feels loved & supported by me.
4. Are your days filled with peace & joy?
1 = My life is in constant chaos.
10 = Absolute bliss!
5. Do your thoughts tend towards the positive, or negative?
1 = Nothing ever seems to go right, or live up to my expectations.
10 = I see God's perfection in everyone and everything.
6. How effective are you at acknowledging and releasing your emotions?
1 = I hold them in, stuff them down, and suffer through them constantly.
10 = Like leaves on a stream, they float by without affecting me. I just notice, and let go.
7. What is your level of physical health and well being?
1 = I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired!
10 = I'm in the best health of my life!
8. How well are you doing at fulfilling your purpose?
1 = I don't even know what my purpose is...
10 = I am complete! My legacy is in place.
Once you finish, then connect the dots. What do you see? Is it an even wheel? A flat tire? A square, or some other sort of pointy object? This symbolizes how you are moving forward in YOUR LIFE, and is a good indication of where you need to be focusing your attention. Now pick the two lowest numbers, and come up with a game plan for how you can begin to improve these areas of your life. Generally speaking, people born under the sign of Aquarius are fun-loving, creative, and forward- thinking individuals who like to be on the cutting edge of new ideas. Autonomy and individuality are important to Aquarians: They like to do what they enjoy and like to be who they are. They usually have no problem standing out in a crowd and they are often known for their unique fashion choices.
At the same time, Aquarians love the idea of universal togetherness - hence, the "Age of Aquarius," the blossoming of understanding and brotherly love. However, interpersonal relationships - whether with spouses, children, or even business partners - can be difficult for Aquarians, simply because they would rather gear their efforts towards the bigger picture. Their scope of vision is so vast that they simply refuse to be restricted to the details and intricacies of one-on-one interactions.
According to the kabbalists, each month has an angel that is connected to the specific energy of that month. The angel that is connected with the energy of Aquarius is the archangel Gabriel whose name means "strength of God." As mentioned in Karen Berg's book To Be Continued: Reincarnation and the Purpose of our Lives:
"Judgment is Gabriel's domain. According to the ancient scriptures, the Creator instructed Gabriel to "go and write signs on the foreheads of the righteous so no sabotage angels can harm them."
What this means to us is this...Gabriel is keeping track of where our thoughts are. If you are in alignment with our spiritual path with thoughts of peace, love, joy, and oneness, then Gabriel marks us with a red "R" on our forehead which warns the sabotage angels to stay away. But if we are NOT in alignment with our spiritual path and are distracted with thoughts of chaos, hatred, fear, and separation, then there is no mark of protection and the sabotage angels have permission to wreak havoc on you.
In other words, lifting our consciousness protects us. It's that simple.
The good news is we have the energy of Aquarius to support us in lifting our consciousness. Now is the perfect time to be aligning your thoughts, emotions, and actions with the fulfillment of your heart's desire/spiritual path. If you're not sure what that is, then I'd suggest you simply start by finding something you love to do and create more time to do it...every day! Inspiration tends to strike when we are in the midst of doing what we enjoy, so make it a habit to do what you love.

There are a few things about this article that I'd like to address. Specifically that so many people are feeling tired, lazy and unimaginative! Ever wonder why that is??? I sure do! Especially since I see so many of my clients and students coming to me with the same symptoms. So let's see if we can get to the underlying cause.
Let's start with "laziness", which is a sure sign that we are uninspired. When people have lost their light, their drive, their passion, then life becomes meaningless. And when life feels meaningless we succumb to a laissez-faire attitude towards our own life which leads to just getting by on the bare minimum. But we are NOT lazy by nature!
These days many people complain about being "tired" which is a sign we are not taking good care of ourselves. We might not be getting enough sleep, eating enough energy producing foods, or getting enough exercise. Or it may be that we are NOT living our dream and this sham of a life we are living is sucking the life out of us!
People who are "unimaginative" have lost their ability to believe. They have forgotten that they are the child of the supreme Creator, and that creativity is an innate part of their essence. They think that "if I see it, then I'll believe it", but the TRUTH is:
Once you believe it, then you will see it!
So here is today's challenge...
