This is the time of year when people start making all of their goals for the year ahead. The crazy thing is that everyone seems to be so determined to get somewhere, but they forget to take the first important step:
Taking a close look at where you are right now!
For years I couldn't figure out why I never really seemed to be getting anywhere. Then one day it dawned on me...there were plenty of things in my life that I LOVED just the way they are!
So before you start creating all of your dreams about what you want to change, take a close look of what you have right now. Then rate it on a scale of 1-5 with 1 being "intolerable" and 5 being "perfect". This way you will have a clear idea of what your heart truly desires, and will have a much better roadmap for moving forward.
I suggest you take your inventory of the four major life categories:

Many people run through their lives like they are constantly putting out fires...running here, there, everywhere, but never seeming to get anywhere! They are in a constant state of reaction to the circumstances of their lives.
Then there are these other magical people who have work that they love, vibrant health, loving relationships, and lives filled with purpose. They are in a constant state of bliss because they know a secret...they are the creators of their own happiness, and they proactively go about creating the circumstances of their lives.
There are four areas that all need our attention and focus if we intend to live a life of balance. They are:
Each is incredibly important, and we must mindfully pay attention to them all, because if we don't an imbalance (like bankruptcy, cancer, divorce, or depression) will bring us to our knees.
Most people pay attention to one or two of the areas, but the others...not so much. So let's say a woman spends all of her time focused on her family (love) and her job (work). Before you know it she's gained 20 pounds and is depressed. Why? Because she hasn't been minding her health and purpose!
